College/Department Information The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine is charged with conducting high-impact original biomedical research and translating the findings to clinical applications, and in educating future physicians and researchers. Our research addresses fundamental questions in cell and developmental biology, endocrinology, neuroscience, regenerative medicine, and cancer biology. Collaborations have been established with clinical departments for studies that investigate various diseases including neurological diseases (stroke, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy, and Guillain-Barre syndrome); psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia and autism); degenerative diseases (osteoporosis); cancer; and endocrinological disorders.
Job Summary Conduct experiments and analyze results of experiments; Experiments may include but not be limited to animal surgery, behavioral procedures, breeding, genotyping, ELISA, immunohistochemistry and tissue sectioning; Maintain mouse colonies and inventories; Maintain computer databases and hard copies of inventory (e.g. chemicals, supplies, tissue samples, antibodies, etc.) and equipment service records; Determine needed new supplies and place orders; Keep laboratory equipment functional, update biosafety and chemical protocols, and coordinate daily operation and cleanliness of the laboratory; Participate in project planning and development of research protocols; Attend meetings and discuss results.
Responsibilities The duties include, but are not limited to:

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research
OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with participatiing on publications
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Willingness and ability to work with research animals; Ability to work independently with only general supervision; Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills; Ability to maintain confidentiality, complete work and meet deadlines; Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn
Shift/Salary/Benefits Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Grade: R9
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
