Job Description Summary:

The Physical Security Specialist assists with physical security administration to include security database management, updating access lists, processing access requests for open storage areas and restricted area administration. This position will also assist the Personnel Security (PERSEC) team with processing clearance applications and providing guidance on individual reporting requirements. This includes utilizing software and applications such as Defense Information Security System (DISS), DSX, and Security Information Management System (SIMS) where accuracy and attention to detail is required. Additional daily functions include reception coverage, badging, executing security briefings and other related items. Assists with highly visible administration to include access control, badging and ensuring security policies.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day administration of physical security administration to include access requests, badge access updates, access list updates, database maintenance, etc.

  • Coordinate periodic audits of open storage area access rosters to ensure compliance with access control database.

  • Lead in-person trainings on Open Storage Areas for all new users and conduct security briefings including but not limited to initial clearance briefings, new hire briefings, and more

  • Assist Physical Security with inspections of OSA’s, SCIF’s and SAPF’s. Documenting findings and planning resolutions.

  • Support investigations to include reviewing Physical Security records such as access control, UL alarm history and surveillance video.

  • Create, maintain, and implement Standard Operating Procedures for the Personnel Security and Physical Security team.

  • Assist with changing combinations, troubleshooting CCTV or access control issues.

  • Support the day-to-day operations of Draper’s Personnel Security function for employees, contractors and consultants to include clearance processing, updating databases, badging actions, and more.

  • Coordinate and maintain the cleared consultant process. Assist in tracking purchase orders, annual refresher briefings, security documentation, performing database management, and processing renewals.

  • Manage the new hire and termination processes to include security briefings, badging and data entry. Maintain and assist with the execution and tracking of security briefings.

  • Conduct annual self-inspection tasks for both PERSEC and Physical Security.

  • Support other areas within the Industrial Security functional area, including providing coverage to the Visitor Service Center badge office and the security receptionist as needed.

Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong customer service skills and service oriented.

  • Ability to work under pressure, be a self-starter, and work well with all levels of management and staff.

  • Organized and good attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of business software such as DSX, DISS/NBIS, SIMs, NISS, RemoteLink and SWFT.

  • Knowledge of government policies such as 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM, SEAD 3, and more.


Education

Requires high school diploma or equivalent, prefer a Bachelor’s degree in Security, Criminal Justice, or related field.


Experience

Prefer one year of relevant experience in industrial security, personnel security, or visitor management.
