Summary: The U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) in the Northern District of Mississippi is seeking an experienced Witness Coordinator. This full-time role involves providing comprehensive support to the witness management program, including managing witness appearances, travel, and reimbursements. Position Info:

• Title: Legal Assistant.
• Client: Department of Justice.
• Duration: 5+ Years.
• Location: 900 Jefferson Avenue, Oxford, Mississippi 38655.

Responsibilities:

• Provide witness management assistance before, during, and after trials.
• Work directly with fact witnesses to ensure their presence at court, pre-trial conferences, and grand jury sessions.
• Handle inquiries from witnesses regarding court appearances, pre-trial conferences, and reimbursements.
• Arrange witness travel and lodging per DOJ and USAO policies.
• Notify witnesses of travel arrangements and appearance dates.
• Meet witnesses upon arrival and provide courtroom orientation.
• Ensure a safe waiting area for witnesses.
• Prepare and submit documentation for witness reimbursements.
• Coordinate with Court, Probation, Pretrial, U.S. Marshals, and investigative agencies.
• Maintain files, documents, and databases for witness management.
• Track hearings, trial dates, grand jury sessions, and scheduling conferences.
• Perform other administrative and logistical duties related to witness management as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Competency with office technology (computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners).
• Knowledge of legal procedures and terminology related to fact witnesses preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Background:

• Experience in a professional office environment or legal setting preferred.
• Experience with witness coordination preferred.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Undergraduate degree preferred.
