Job Description

BWC is currently operating under a hybrid schedule that may incorporate both teleworking and in-person office hours. Employees must be able to report to the office when requested by management &/or for their initial job training.

What You’ll Be Doing

Under direction of Assistant General Counsel, performing non-routine administrative tasks by acting as a liaison for BWC's Legal Division Assistant General Counsel (AGC).

  • Responding to internal & external inquiries by independently formulating decisions &/or judgments involving non-legal interpretations of policies & procedures (e.g., complaints from employers &/or employees regarding workers’ compensation matters).
  • Communicating interpretations of directives & decisions of AGC & Legal Counsel (LC), verbally & in writing.
  • Authoring messages & memoranda on behalf of AGC.
  • Representing AGC at meetings & events as requested (e.g. conferences with other agencies, interdivisional task forces, committees).
  • Independently composing reports on monthly & weekly status of activity in the Legal Division.
  • Analyzing information for backlogs, inaccuracies & comparison of production, communicating findings to AGC & LC, & providing recommendations &/or solutions.
  • Working on special assignments & projects (e.g. legal opinions, research repository).
  • Performing personnel functions (e.g., participates in employment interview panels, consults with Labor Relations as appropriate).
  • Maintaining Legal Q&A & Ethics 4 BWC mailboxes (e.g. assigning questions to attorneys, monitoring assignments, tracking responses from attorneys, preparing detailed reports on questions & answers provided by attorneys).
  • Assisting AGC as needed in the following:
    • Routine legal research & reports findings
    • Assisting rules manager to track rule developments
    • Collecting mail review
    • Obtaining e-signatures
    • Assisting legal directors with unit special assignments & routine administrative tasks.

To Qualify, You Must Clearly Demonstrate

Required Experience And/or Education

  • 30 mos. exp. or 30 mos. trg. in secretarial/administrative professional field.
  • Or completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from accredited career school or community college AND 12 mos. exp. in secretarial/administrative professional field.
  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Administrative Professional 2,16872.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
