SUMMARY:
The Basic Books Group seeks an editorial assistant to support the Publisher and Backlist Coordinator. This is a NYC based role. Please note our current hybrid model is two days per week in the office. Effective in January 2025, HBG’s hybrid model will be 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• 1-2 years previous book publishing experience preferred (internships OK).
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel required; knowledge of databases and ability to produce reports a plus.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audience.
• Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively, and to balance working with multiple projects from more than one editor at once.
• Strong ability to ensure accuracy of work through attention to detail.

The compensation for this position is $47,500. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
