The School employs 130 faculty members and most recently enrolled 565 students in Fall 2023. The UGA School of Law offers the Juris Doctor degree (J.D.), Master of Laws degree (LL.M.), and a Master in the Study of Law degree (M.S.L.). Position Summary:

The University of Georgia (UGA), the flagship public, land-grant and sea-grant university of the state of Georgia, seeks an experienced and energetic leader to serve as the Dean of the School of Law.

The Dean serves as the academic and administrative leader of the School of Law. As such, the Dean must be distinguished in the field of law, a talented and resourceful administrator, and someone with the ability to develop and to communicate a shared vision of excellence that will build upon and enhance the School’s already strong programs and reputation. In addition to providing energetic and visionary leadership, the Dean must provide principled administrative guidance and advocacy for the mission of the School of Law in teaching, research, and public service/outreach. The Dean’s responsibilities include overall responsibility for leadership of the School; strategic planning and analysis of School operations; program and budget development; fundraising; alumni relations; and representing the School to the University administration and to external constituencies. The Dean reports to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. Additional Requirements:

A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, research and service, and to be eligible for appointment as a full professor with tenure at time of appointment. To be eligible for tenure on appointment, candidates must have been tenured at a prior institution and bring a demonstrably national reputation to UGA.   • Works to maintain and enhance an inclusive and supportive environment for faculty, staff and students.
  • Promotes collaborations with other academic disciplines.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with public, corporate, and nongovernmental organizations in the legal field in order to advance the mission of the School.
