Since its establishment in 1941, the Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art has grown from a small university teaching collection into one of the foremost university art museums in the country. A preeminent teaching museum, the museum's internationally acclaimed collection, ranging from ancient gold jewelry and African masks to paintings by Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso, includes more than 45,000 objects representing nearly every art-producing culture throughout history. The Eskenazi Museum of Art completed a $30 million renovation of its acclaimed I. M. Pei-designed building and is an enhanced teaching resource for Indiana University and southern Indiana. The museum is seeking a part-time grants coordinator to prepare and develop proposals for a comprehensive grant portfolio supporting the Museum's programs and initiatives.

Job Summary

  • Develops and manages a robust portfolio of foundation and government proposal opportunities, identifying and targeting regular grants opportunities with national funders.
  • Researches foundations for potential funding support and drafts letters of inquiry when appropriate.
  • Working with museum staff, coordinates the collection of data for grant submissions including budgets, written reports, and images.
  • Compiles and finalizes all submissions by their respective deadlines.
  • Tracks and reviews responses. Schedules feedback session for any declined submission between program officers and relevant museum staff.
  • Assists with writing interim and final reports for foundations and public funders. Ensures accurate and timely submission of reports.
  • Tracks relevant correspondence in the IU Foundation database.
  • Acts as the primary coordinator in terms of knowledge of the status of each submission.
  • Takes responsibility for any required contact with funders for the successful submission and reporting related to each grant.
  • Manages internal routing through IU offices and systems.

Qualifications



EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 2 years of experience in project management with a proven track record of success in grant writing or proposal development.

SKILLS

  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills.
  • Demonstrates a high commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • Highly thorough and dependable.

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to person the essential functions with or without accommodations.

Additional Information



Up to $25 per hour based on experience.

Bloomington, Indiana

Work Hours



Position is capped at 29 hours per week.

Work hours will generally run between 24-29 hours weekly.
