Adult Student Advocate
The purpose of this position is to provide supportive services to MCC adult students with a focus on enrollment, persistence, retention, and degree/certificate completion. This position is responsible for providing proactive support, guidance, and tracking academic and completion progress.
The adult student advocate's primary duties is serving the unique needs of adult students in terms of providing the following: 1) intrusive support and advocacy; 2) navigate successful transition into and through the college experience; 3) establish relationship and community building; and 4) developing strategies and interventions for managing school, family, work, and life responsibilities. This position will be cross-trained to assist with other areas as needed to meet the unique needs of the adult students.
The Adult Student Advocate plays a pivotal role in facilitating support, collaborating closely with other departments to aid in the smooth transition of adult students through college onboarding, orientation, enrollment, and academic success. The goal of the Adult Student Advocate is to actively engage, involve and empower adult students in reaching their academic and career goals, while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. The advocate is responsible for developing and monitoring the Individualized Success Plan ( ISP ), designed to guide their educational journey.
The Adult Student Advocate serves as a representative for adult students within the institution, advocating their access to educational opportunities and addressing any potential barriers they may encounter on their path to success and completion.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position may supervise student workers, but no supervisory responsibilities related to full-time employees.
